Physics-informed AI for molten-salt systems

Led by Cullen College of Engineering professor Myoungkyu Lee, the DOE project builds AI surrogates for turbulent forced convection in molten salts—coolants central to advanced fission concepts and future fusion-related systems. The pitch is speed and reliability: replace or accelerate costly simulations so engineers can iterate reactor-relevant designs faster.
